Facilities

On August 6th 2000 the club opened the new all-weather track in Shercock. Facilities include a floodlit 8-lane cinder track, a tartan jumps area for long jump, triple jump, high jump and pole vault, throwing circles for shot, discus and hammer and a 1km all-weather hill training circuit. The project was completed jointly with Shercock GFC and also includes a juvenile football field and pitch & putt course, which generates revenue for the scheme.
Phase 2 of the development began in January 2002. This involved completing the floodlighting programme, the foundations for which were laid in 2000. Spectator fencing was constructed around the perimeter of the track to enable competitions to be held more easily at the venue. The infield area was drained, levelled and re-seeded as a sand pitch to provide an all-weather surface for juvenile football as well as a landing area for the throwing events.

Phase 3, which is due to start in May 2005, involves the construction of dressing rooms. These will replace the temporary facilities and portacabin toilet block now in use. A new pole vault facility is also being planned.
